Zimbabwe’s Ruling Party ZANU-PF Sacked Mugabe as Leader

The ruling party of Zimbabwe has sacked President Mugabe as the leader of the party and urged him to step down.

In an exclusive meeting, the party voted to sack Mugabe as its leader after the Zimbabwean military stepped in and put Mugabe under house arrest.

The jubilant party members danced in the party office after the decision to sack Mugabe was made.

The party members also proposed the sacked Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa as the next leader of the party.

Mr. Mugabe is said to be still defiant as he repeatedly refused to step down. He has been under house arrest along with his family following a military takeover on November 15.

Obert Mpofu, the minister of home affairs, said in the opening remark of the party meeting that it was the first lady Grace Mugabe who took advantage of the President.

“We meet here today with a heavy heart because Mugabe’s wife and her close associates have taken advantage of his frail condition and abused the resources of the country,” he told members. “I warmly welcome you all to this historic meeting which will mark a new era, not only for our country but for the party.”
