In an interview with NBC news, Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya said that she met Trump Jr.  to discuss sanctions between Russia and the U.S.

She denied having any damaging information on Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election campaign. Natalie said “I never had any damaging or sensitive information about Hillary Clinton. It was never my intention to have that.”

“It is quite possible that maybe they were longing for such an information. They wanted it so badly that they could only hear the thought that they wanted.”

As she was asked why Trump Jr. had the impression that she had information about Clinton, Veselnitskaya said, “It is quite possible that maybe they were longing for such an information. They wanted it so badly that they could only hear the thought that they wanted.”

Veselnitskaya’s account, however, contradicts that of Trump Jr’s, since he said that it was ”a short introductory meeting” to discuss damaging information on Clinton that Natalie was offering.

“I never had any damaging or sensitive information about Hillary Clinton. It was never my intention to have that.”

Trump Jr. confirmed later on Monday that he met the Russian lawyer for information about Hillary in a rather sarcastic tweet. He tweeted, “Obviously I’m the first person on a campaign to ever take a meeting to hear info about an opponent… went nowhere but had to listen.”

The New York Times reported on Monday that Trump Jr. was told that the Russian lawyer had information to help his father’s candidacy as part of the Russian government effort to win Donald Trump ticket to the White House.

“Obviously I’m the first person on a campaign to ever take a meeting to hear info about an opponent… went nowhere but had to listen,” Trump Jr.

Trump junior later on Tuesday released a chain of emails that confirmed his meeting with the Russian lawyer. But Veselnitskaya, prior to Trump Junior’s releasing of chain of emails flatly refused her link with the Russian government. Kremlin also said that they do not know Veselnitskaya.  Vaselnitskaya told NBC that she was asked only one question by Trump Jr.

“The question that I was asked was as follows: whether I had any financial records which might prove that the funds used to sponsor the D.N.C. were coming from inappropriate sources.”

She had no such records and said “it was never my intention to collect any financial records to that end.”

Veselnitskaya told NBC the difficulties she had been encountering ever since the news broke. She said,

“Imagine yourself in my shoes. One morning you wake up and all of a sudden you are the focus of all the high ranking, upstream media of the world,” she said.

“To summarize, those were not the happiest days of my life, I have to say. I have to break up my holiday. I have to take a trip back to Moscow, because I just wanted to be able to answer the questions myself.”
