Foreign Minister of Iran Javad Zarif lashed out at the US administration for the recently imposed new sanction. Mr. Zarif said that Washington is trying to deter Iran from the benefits of the nuclear deal. Iran said that Washington’s sanctions announcement is “contemptible and worthless”.

US State Department’s spokesperson Heather Nauert said in a statement, ” The United States remains deeply concerned about Iran’s malign activities across the Middle East which undermine regional stability, security, and prosperity. Iran continues to support terrorist groups such as Hizballah, Hamas, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad that threaten Israel and stability in the Middle East. “

Announcing sanctions on certain Iranian individuals and groups, Nauert said, “In response to these continued Iranian threats, the Administration today announces that it has designated 18 entities and individuals supporting Iran’s ballistic missile program and for supporting Iran’s military procurement or Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), as well as an Iran-based transnational criminal organization and associated persons.”

“It’s become a rather tired routine,” Iran’s FM Zarif said. “Each time they want to certify [Iranian compliance] they make sure to do something negative. It is obviously a sign of bad faith.”

Regretting the newly announced US sanction, Iranian Foreign Minister Mr. Zarif said, “We still do not know what they want to do.” He added, “They have been talking about scrapping the deal. … But they seem to have come to the realization that scrapping the deal is not something that would be globally welcome. … [So] they now try to make it impossible for Iran to get the benefits from the deal.”

In response to the newly imposed sanction Iran’s president Mr. Hassan Rouhani said, “We would not overlook the US breaches and would stand against them, but at the same time, we are aware how to take advantage of the situation that has arisen,” he added

Iran’s Islamic revolution guard knows as IRGA has warned U.S. that if IRGA is designated as a terrorist group, US bases in middle east would become in secured. A top IRGA commander said,  “If the US seeks to pursue sanctions against [Iran’s] defense [program] and the IRGC, before that it should move its regional bases 1,000 kilometers away from Iran and it should know that it has to pay a high price for its miscalculation.”
