Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged the U.S. President Donald Trump for ‘restraint’ over the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue. He talked with his U.S. counterpart over a phone call on Saturday, Xinhua reported.
To pursue a peaceful settlement of the ongoing issue, Mr. Xi said that his country is ready to work with the U.S. with mutual respect.
President Xi reminds of the common interest of the U.S. and China in denuclearizing Korean Peninsula. He added that both the countries share common interest in maintaining peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula.
President Xi Jinping said that his country is ready to work with the U.S. to resolve the Korean peninsula crisis. He added that all parties should abstain from making any comment or action that escalates the ongoing crisis.
Urging for a dialogue to resolve the ever growing tension, Mr. Xi said that the concerned parties should work together to deescalate the current crisis through dialogue.
The Chinese President stressed to promote cooperation between the US and North Korea in different areas to properly deal each other’s concern to resolve the issue perfectly.
President Xi insists on striving for political solution of the escalating situation through negotiation.
The Chinese President reminds that he had a very productive meeting with President Trump during the G20 Summit and said that maintaining good communication between them is very important for the development of the China-U.S. relations.
Mr. Xi said that his country is hopeful about the visit of President Trump in China later this year. He expects that both the countries would take good preparation for the visit and bilateral meeting.
The U.S. president also said that he is looking forward to his state visit to China and expressed his interest in maintaining close contacts between the two leaders on major issues and strengthening exchanges between their countries at all levels as well as in various areas including Korean Peninsula issue.
